of licensing, how far you decide to go will depend on your ambitions and budget.
Getting Started A trial instructional flight is
always a good place to start. For $98 you will learn about the controls of your
plane, as well as you flying the plane in a 30 minute flight. This is a great
opportunity to see how you like flying and how flying training is done! More information

Licence A student pilot licence will cost you $5 and is valid forever.
To fly your first solo you will need an aviation medical certificate.
These typically cost between $70-$120, depending on your age and other factors.

$166 per hour flying in a
Jabiru J-160 that seats two
average adults*. You only get charged for the time the engine is running (to the
nearest 1/10th of an hour). A typical lesson may include 30 minutes of theory,
a 10 minute plane inspection, 60 minute flight and 15 minute de-briefing.
The training is done in phases: Phase 1 is to
go solo in the circuit. (that is to fly by your self) You must be 16 years old
and hold a Student Pilot Licence. You
must pass a pre solo Theory Exam.
Phase 2 is to go solo in the
training area. You must pass a pre area solo Theory Exam. Phase 3
is the General Flying Progress Test (GFPT) which allows you to carry passengers
in the training area. You must pass a Basic Aeronautical Knowledge Theory Exam
and a Flight Test. (You do not have to do this test if you don't want to carry
passengers and go straight to Phase 4.) Phase 4 is Navigation
Training to allow to fly virtually anywhere in the world. You must pass a Private
Pilot Theory Exam and a Flight Test. The cost of the Theory Study
books is app. $ 350.00 depending on what you get. CASA legal books,
documents and charts cost another app. $ 300.00. Now that you are able
to carry passengers you can invite up to two people who can share the cost of
your lessons. On top of your PPL there are several other endorsements that you can do including
night flying, aerobatics and many others. Phase 5 is Commercial
Pilot Licence Training. That allows you to fly for a living. If you
indicate your intention to do an integrated CPL at the beginning of your training,
the minimum hours are a Total time of 150 hours including of 70 hours in command,
and it's GST FREE. If you do not train for the CPL in the integrated system you
need a total time of 200 hours including 100 hours in command, unfortunately,
you have to pay GST on that. Air Transport Pilot
Licence This is what you need to work as a Captain for the Airlines.
After 1500 hours of experience you can go for it! The Diploma or Advanced
Certificates will also help you to convince the airlines that YOU are one for
them.
RAA Recreational Aviation
Australia (Ultralight Pilot Licence)
This special RAA Pilot licence can be obtained
through us at a minimum of 20 hours, one year younger at 15 years of
age, without the need of a medical and $20 per hour cheaper than the
same new glass cockpit VH registered JABIRU
